MODESTO – A Modesto woman and her fiance were arrested for murder following the death of the woman’s 3-year-old son. A call was made to 911 at around 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, reporting that Gilbert Escamilla was not breathing. Emergency medical personnel responded to the home in the 300 block of Standiford Avenue to find Gilbert unresponsive. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and airlifted to Madera Children’s Hospital.
Hospital staff immediately noticed that the child had burns, lacerations, and bruising authorities said. Gilbert succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning. His mother, Connie Escamilla, 24, and her fiance, Kylie Beasley, were arrested for murder. Beasley in addition to the murder charges, is also facing torture charges. The cause of death will be determined by the Coroner. Connie Escamilla’s 7-year-old daughter has been placed in protective custody.
