Nearly 300 Illegal Immigrants Arrested Entering U.S. Through Rio Grande Valley Overnight

GRANJENO, Texas – Nearly 300 families and unaccompanied children were arrested in the Rio Grande Valley overnight.

The U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended the largest group of illegal immigrants attempting to enter the United States so far this year.  Agents received the report just after midnight on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, that there was a large group of suspected illegal immigrants walking toward the river levee. Agents took 289 illegal immigrants into custody.

In all, during the last 24 hours, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol arrested over 1000 illegal immigrants. In February 2019, 14000 families and around 2900 unaccompanied children were apprehended according to the Custom’s Border Patrol officials. All those arrested are being processed.
