NORCO, Calif. – A Norco man was killed after speeding and colliding into another vehicle authorities said.
On Thursday, July 4, 2019, at around 9:16 p.m., deputies and emergency medical personnel responded to Sixth Street near Temescal Avenue in the City of Norco, for the report of a major traffic collision. When they arrived they located the two badly damaged vehicles; a Chevrolet El Camino and a Toyota Tundra. The driver of the El Camino, 44-year-old Alfonso Jimenez, of Norco, was trapped inside the vehicle. Jimenez was not responsive and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Through investigation, it was learned that the El Camino was driving southbound on Temescal Avenue at a high rate of speed. At the same time, the Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on Sixth Street. The El Camino struck the Tundra causing it to overturn and slide across the intersection. Both vehicles rested on the southwest portion of the intersection into oncoming lanes of traffic. The driver of the Tundra, the sole occupant was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
