OXNARD, Calif. – A newborn boy was strangled to death by his parents shortly after his birth, officials said.
On Friday, July 19, 2019, at around 7:53 a.m., Oxnard Police responded to St. John’s Medical Center located at 1600 North Rose Avenue for the report of the suspicious injury to the newborn. When they arrived they learned that the baby was in critical condition. Detectives arrived to assist in the investigation and determined that Andrea Torralba, 20, and David Villa, 21, both of Oxnard, strangled the baby until he was unconscious. The couple told detectives that they killed him because they did not want him, according to police.
The baby boy died at the hospital as a result of his injures.
Torralba and Villa were arrested for assault on a child by means of force resulting in death. They are both being held in lieu of $1000000 bail. The case remains under investigtion
