ORLANDO, FL. – No motive is being released for the Friday night shooting following an Orlando, Florida performance by Singer Christina Grimmie, a 22-year-old star of NBC’s “The Voice” season 6 (2014).
Grimmie, a New Jersey native, performed at The Plaza Live theater Friday night with “Before you Exit”, where there were no indications of impending dangers to the singer.
Police said that an armed gunman, now identified by the Orlando Police as 27-year-old, Kevin James walked up to the young singer with two guns just after her performance, which ended at around 10:00 p.m.
As she talked with fans and signed autographs at a merchandise table he opened fire at around 10:20 p.m.
Her brother reportedly tackled the James, who killed himself during the struggle.

Police called Grimmie’s brother a hero, stating that is he did not tackle the James it is likely more would have been injured or killed as a result of the shooting.
Grimmie was taken to the hospital in grave condition and died at the hospital early Saturday morning according to her publicist. Grimmie excitedly posted to Twitter Friday afternoon inviting Orlando fans to go to the performance at 7:30 p.m.
Grimmie gained a following before the voice on Youtube and finished third on “The Voice”.
