Grimmie, a New Jersey native, performed at The Plaza Live theater Friday night with “Before you Exit”, where there were no indications of impending dangers to the singer.

Police said that an armed gunman, now identified by the Orlando Police as 27-year-old, Kevin James walked up to the young singer with two guns just after her performance, which ended at around 10:00 p.m.

As she talked with fans and signed autographs at a merchandise table he opened fire at around 10:20 p.m.

Her brother reportedly tackled the James, who killed himself during the struggle.
