WONDER VALLEY, Ca. – Skeletal remains found in Wonder Valley on the morning of January 31, 2021, were determined to be those of a missing 37-year-old Walnut Creek woman.
Erika Ashley Lloyd was last seen at her home in Walnut Creek on June 14, 2020, just before heading out alone heading for Joshua Tree National Park. The single mother and business owner who experienced financial hardships as a result of the pandemic told her roommate that she was planning on meeting someone at the park. Her family filed a missing persons report two days later after not being able to contact her. As a result, deputies, search and rescue volunteers, Sheriff’s Aviation, and Park Rangers from the Joshua Tree National Park conducted numerous search operations for weeks following her disappearance.
Months later on January 31, 2021 at around 9:37 a.m. human remains were found in a desert field, ¼ mile east of the 5200 block of Danbury Road in Wonder Valley. A Forensic Odontologist identified Lloyd using her dental records. The cause and manner of her death are undetermined.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Michael Gardea, Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail at (909)387-3589. Callers can remain anonymous and contact WeTip at 800-78CRIME or www.wetip.com.
