Two Arrested for Possession of Multiple Stolen Vehicles and Live Ammunition

NEWBERRY SPRINGS – Two Newberry Springs men were arrested for the possession of stolen vehicles and live ammunition on Tuesday afternoon.

At around 2:00 p.m.deputies from the Barstow station conducted a pedestrian check in the 34000 block of Hampshire Road in Newberry Springs. The two men that they made contact with were 37-year-old Joseph Trexler and 68-year-old Edward Barriere. Trexler was found to have a felony arrest warrant and was detained.

During the investigation, deputies learned that a vehicle that the Barriere and Trexler were working on was stolen from Hesperia and the trailer behind the truck was stolen from Barstow. The San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT) responded to the location to assist in the investigation and wrote a search warrant for the location.

During the search, other stolen vehicles and property were located and both suspects were found to have live ammunition and a large military ordinance. Both Trexler and Barriere were booked into the High Desert Detention Center for the possession of the stolen vehicles and property as well as being felons in possession of ammunition. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of additional stolen vehicles or property is urged to contact SANCATT Deputy Scott Nobles at (909)388-4898.
