COVINA – A 19-year-old Victorville man was arrested for driving under influence (DUI) and resisting arrest after crashing into the doors of a Covina AutoZone Wednesday morning.
At around 4:30 a.m. the suspect, Brian Perez Cardenas crashed a Honda Civic into the AutoZone store located at 21356 East Arrow Highway. Deputies from the San Dimas station responded and attempted to make contact with Perez Cardenas. When they approached, according to Sheriff’s officials, he was combative attempting to fight several deputies.
Deputies used a taser in order to subdue the suspect to take him into custody. Perez Cardenas was transported to the hospital for medical clearance and was subsequently booked into jail. One deputy suffered minor injuries as a result of the scuffle. The store was closed on Wednesday for cleanup and repairs.
