MONTGOMERY, AL. – A Montgomery, Alabama woman was arrested after falsely reporting a burglary in progress in order to get back at her cheating husband.
On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at around 9:00 a.m. 33-year-old Amber Lewis called the police to report a burglary in the 200 block of James Drive. When they arrived at the home they did not find a burglar, but they did make contact with Lewis and another woman. The two women said that they were unaware of who was in the home, leading police to search the home.
When they were inside the home, there was a strong smell of marijuana. Upon further searching, they did find marijuana, cocaine, and other drugs in the home. Police said that these drugs were also found in the bedroom of their 5-year-old child. The police also located a male subject, learned to be Lewis’ husband.
The drugs were collected as evidence. Lewis was charged with making a false police report, second-degree possession of marijuana, and chemical endangerment of a child, the news release said. She is at the Elmore County Jail where she is being held in lieu of $12500 bail. Lewis’ husband will also face charges.
