BARSTOW – A 34-year-old Barstow lost her life after being involved in a single-vehicle traffic collision in the northbound lanes of the 15 freeway in Baker on Saturday.
At around 2:10 a.m. the California Highway Patrol responded to the collision. CHP officials said that the driver of the 2002 Hyundai, later identified as Tanika Russell failed to negotiate a left turn and left the roadway. Her vehicle rolled over into the open desert and Russell, who was unrestrained was ejected from the vehicle.
Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and determined that Russell died as a result of the collision. The California Highway Patrol in Barstow is investigating the collision.
