YERMO – The unsubstantiated report of a subject with a gun outside of Yermo Elementary School led to the lockdown of the campus on Monday afternoon.
Authorities said that at around 1:21 p.m. they received a report indicating that there was a person with a gun in the 38000 block of Gleason Street. Deputies from the Barstow Station responded along with officers from the Highway Patrol to ensure the safety of the students and staff. They conducted a search of the school and the surrounding area. No evidence was located to corroborate the report, which was made by a student. Extra patrol was provided to help alleviate concerns of parents, staff, students, and/or residents.
