DELANO, Calif. – Detectives are attempting to collect information about a 1980’s case that took the life of a young mother and her unborn child.
In November 1980, a still unidentified people attempted to shoot and kill several people along Highway 99 near Pond Road in Delano. The vehicle was believe to be a 1968-1970 white Ford 4-door passenger car occupied by four Hispanic men in their early 20’s. Witnesses reported that the pulled next to several vehicles and shot into the passenger compartments, striking three people. Two survived their injuries, while the third, a 23-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child died as a result of her injuries.
All leads were followed and eventually the tips stopped coming in leading to the case going cold. Now, close to 40 years later, authorities are hoping that someone knows something and is willing to come forward to provide justice to the victims and families of the victims.
