Victorville Man Stabs Neighbor During Argument

VICTORVILLE, Calif. – A Victorville man was arrested for stabbing his neighbor multiple times during an argument.

On April 8, 2019, at around 3:09 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to the 15600 block of Jay Post Road in the City of Victorville for the report of a stabbing. They caller said that a man was down in the street and that the subject was still at the location. When deputies arrived they located the victim, 52-year-old Mikal Copple, on the ground in front of his home.

Copple had been stabbed multiple times and was need of medical attention. Deputies were able to determine that the two men were arguing when the victim threw dirt at the suspect. The suspect, Steven Lerma, produced a knife and stabbed him multiple times. A neighbor saw the two fighting and intervened.

Lerma was contacted at his home just down the street. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Attempted Murder. Copple was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment and was later released.
