Domestic Dispute With Struggle For Handgun Leads to Shooting Death

SUGARLOAF, Calif. –  A physical altercation between a man and his estranged wife led to a shooting that killed him on Wednesday night.

At around 11:20 p.m., deputies responded to the 700 block of Leonard Avenue for the report of a domestic disturbance with shots fired. When they arrived they located Kyle McWilliams, 33, of Sugarloaf, suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency fire personnel responded and rushed McWilliams to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Homicide Investigators responded to the location to assume the investigation. During the investigation, they determined that Kyle McWilliams was involved in an altercation with Jennifer “Jay Jay” Munoz, 32, of Sugarloaf, after he forced entry into her home. The two began fighting and at one point, struggled for a handgun, leading to McWilliams being shot. Jennifer Munoz was interviewed by Homicide Investigators and subsequently released. The investigation details will be submitted to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office for review.
