ADELANTO – Authorities remain tight-lipped about the shooting that occurred at the Candlewick Apartments in the City of Adelanto Saturday night.
At around 11:05 p.m. multiple parties reported hearing numerous shots fired and a woman screaming for help at the apartments located at 11200 Chamberlaine Way. Witnesses reported seeing a male subject bleeding and injured, but were unable to determine the nature of his injuries.
The shooter was described as a black man, with short hair and a tattoo over his eye. He was last seen wearing dark gray sweatpants, a sweatshirt, and blue shoes. He was armed with a black handgun and was reported to live in the complex.
The injured man was transported to the hospital by private vehicle. It is unclear if he suffered a gunshot wound or another type of injury at this time.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department helicopter — 40-King searched for the suspect to no avail. Ground units search in and around nearby apartments, with the permission of residents. The apartment reported to belong to the suspect was left with the door open and the police called for the suspect to exit the apartment, but later cleared the apartment finding no occupants inside. The attic was searched, but the suspect was still not located.
Unconfirmed witness reports stated that the shooting was a result of a vehicle repossession dispute. The lack of information being provided by Sheriff officials has left residents on edge. As of early Sunday morning, the suspect remained at large. Numerous contact attempts have been made by 24/7 Headline News reporters to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, but information is yet to be provided.
