ADELANTO – A 48-year-old Adelanto man was arrested for attempting to set a fire to gas station pumps at the Michael’s Liquor in the City of Adelanto.

On Monday, March 14, 2017, at around 12:15 a.m. Keith Wayne Bailey, 48, went to the store located at 11424 Chamberlaine Way. He told the clerk to call an ambulance for him. The clerk denied his request since Bailey appeared fine and he did not see a valid reason to do so.

Bailey, outraged with the clerk not following his orders, threatened to blow up the gas station and began attempting to start a fire by stuffing tissue paper into the gas pump nozzles and lighting them with a lighter.. When the deputy from the Victor Valley Station arrived he located suspect Bailey near the gas pumps of the business.

He continued to ask for medical help and an ambulance was eventually called. When the ambulance arrived they were unable to find anything medically wrong with Bailey.

Keith Wayne Bailey was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for attempted arson and criminal threats. He is being held in lieu of $125,000 bail.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Deputy Robert Escalera at the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station at (760) 552-6801. Persons wishing to remain anonymous may report information to WeTip at 800-78-CRIME (27463) or by accessing WeTip’s website at www.wetip.com.
