APPLE VALLEY – A 44-year-old Apple Valley man was arrested for using a handgun to threaten a person who refused to let him drive while under the influence Sunday night. At around 8:20 p.m. deputies from the Victor Valley and Apple Valley Stations responded to the 23700 block of Yucca Loma Road for a report of a man with a gun.
When they arrived, they were informed about what had just taken place. The victim refused to let the suspect, Raia Nittianandan drive and fought him for his keys. Once he gained possession of the keys, he left the property. Nittianandan was then witnessed with a handgun and making threats toward the victim. He fired the weapon toward a tree.
The victim returned the keys and picked up his belongings when another altercation ensued. Nittianandan again threatened the victim by pointing a firearm at him. Nittianandan now faces charges of assault with a firearm and discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. He was transported to the High Desert Detention Center and was released on $50,000 on Monday afternoon.
