APPLE VALLEY – The 37-year-old man who randomly terrorized citizens in Apple Valley with random attacks on Monday, April 23, 2018, has been convicted and sentenced.
Adonis Lebron of Apple Valley began his attacks for no apparent reason at around 10:00 a.m. that Monday at the Kiowa Market on Kiowa and Bear Valley Roads. Lebron grabbed a 24-ounce beer and flung it straight at the employee injuring the clerk’s nose. He then fled the store and headed down the street to the Food 4 Less market parking lot on the 20800 block of Bear Valley Road.
At around 12:15 p.m. he approached a man who was sitting in a work truck. He talked with the man briefly about his job and without warning, opened the drivers-side door and attempted to pull the man out of the vehicle. The man was able to fight Lebron off and drive away. Lebron then approached a Food-4-Less employee and pulled a cell phone out of his back pocket. He ran with the phone and the employee confronted him. Lebron threw the phone at the employee.
Responding deputies located Lebron attempting to flee from the parking lot and took him into custody. Lebron was booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
Lebron faced three felony counts, including battery with serious bodily injury, attempted carjacking, and 2nd-degree robbery. On Monday, May 7, 2018, Lebron pleaded no contest to assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury. The plea was part of a plea deal, which dropped the other two felony charges. Lebron was sentenced to one year in county jail, with credit for 14 days of time served. He is eligible for half time and will also be on formal probation for a period of three years.
