Tehachapi, Calif. – At least one person is confirmed deceased after a plane crashed in the Tehachapi Mountains on Thursday night.
Kern County Sheriff’s Department was notified at around 10:30 p.m. that a plane was overdue based on the flight plan from San Luis Obispo to Los Angeles. Patrol deputies searched for the wreckage and search and rescue joined in the search. Kern County Fire air was able to locate the wreckage. At around 10:30 a.m. At least one body was located shortly following. The identity of the deceased person has not yet been released. It is believed that three people were on board the twin-engine Beechcraft private plane.
KCSO is coordinating the investigation with the FAA and NTSB and will take them to the crash site Saturday. Friday night, Search and Rescue is using Snow Cats to create a trail so we can transport ground crews to the site, which has deep snow. KCSO will hold another briefing Saturday and will send out an update with that time.
