VICTORVILLE – The man who brutally beat a woman to death at a Victorville park on Wednesday has been confirmed arrested.
On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at around 8:26 p.m. witnesses called 911 to report a beating in the South/West parking lot tt Hook Park. Deputies arrived at the location moments later to find the male suspect, identified as Walter Gonzalez Maravilla, 25, attempting to leave in the victim’s vehicle.
First responding deputies described the woman as having major head trauma. AMR arrived shortly after and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Homicide Detectives responded to assume the investigation. Several witnesses were interviewed and they learned that the two were at the park when the attack took place. Marvavilla began assaulting the woman until she appeared to be unconscious, then he got into her vehicle and drove over her body.
After driving over her, he attempted to drive away, but was stopped by responding deputies. Maravilla was arrested and taken into custody and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Murder. Authorities said that the victim and suspect Maravilla were involved in an “inconsistent” relationship.
