PERRIS, Ca. – A family dog went missing on August 10, 2019, and the family desperate to locate their dog requested the assistance from a deputy from the Perris station.
On August 20, 2019, the owners of the dog named “Ruby” asked for the assistance. The Perris residents told them that Ruby, a Yorkshire Terrier imported from Russia was microchipped. “Ruby played a special role in the family home and is especially close to the owner’s special needs daughter,” Perris Sheriff’s officials said. “The dog owner provided information to the deputy including the microchip number and an investigation was initiated.” The investigation revealed that the dog went to three different homes since going missing.
A woman in Santa Ana ended up having Ruby in her possession. The woman was contacted but she refused to cooperate with the investigation. On August 21, 2019, deputies responded to the Santa Ana home with Santa Ana Animal Control. The Yorkshire Terrier at the home was scanned and the dog was identified as Ruby. The woman was not home at the time and Ruby was recovered and returned to the Perris Station, where she was reunited with her family.
The investigation is still on-going. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact Deputy P. Salazar from the Perris Station by calling 951-210-1000.
