RANCHO CUCAMONGA – The City of Rancho Cucamonga Animal Control announced that a bat found at Mountain View Park last week tested positive for rabies. The bat was found on the ground at the park located on Terra Vista Parkway on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
Rabies is almost always fatal and those with pets should make sure they have a current rabies vaccine. They also warn that the public should never attempt to touch a wild animal.
Anyone who has touched a bat that was at the Mountain View Park should immediately contact the Public Health Department, Communicable Disease Section at (800)722-4794 to evaluate the possible need for rabies treatment.
