HESPERIA – A 37-year-old Hesperia man was shot and injured following an attempted strong-arm robbery at a Hesperia business on Friday.
At around 12:08 a.m. Michael Richardson walked into the business location in the 15900 block of Bear Valley Road and created a disturbance with customer and employees. He was asked to leave, but refused and assaulted two victims. He demanded property from the employees and continued to try to assault them. An employee, being concerned for their safety and the safety of others grabbed a handgun and shot toward the Richardson several times. He fled on foot into a field
Richardson was located in the field behind the location suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was treated at the scene and then was airlifted for additional treatment. One employee sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault but was treated and released at the scene. All those who were inside of the business at the time of the incident were cooperative with detectives and the firearm used in the shooting was recovered. Once medically cleared, Richardson will be booked into jail for strong-armm robbery. No other arrest have been made and no other injuries have been reported at this time.
Hesperia Station Detectives are continuing the investigation, processing the scene, and interviewing witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Eric Dyberg or Detective Brian Lovasco at the Hesperia Station.
