HELENDALE – Two Helendale brothers were arrested when a semi-truck and trailer was stolen from Silver Lakes officials said. On Monday morning at around 9:00 a.m. the victim contacted his employer to track the location of the semi-truck using the GPS system. The employer found that the truck was parked in the area of National Trails Highway and Corral Road in Helendale. The Barstow Sheriff’s Department was advised of the location.
Deputies were dispatched to the area, where the victim had already drove to. The victim had found four subjects in or around the stolen semi-truck and he confronted them. Deputies arrived and the four suspects fled the area. The suspects were detained with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol and Victor Valley Station deputies.
Charles Griffin, 26, was arrested for vehicle theft and the possession of stolen property. Lewis Griffin, 26, Charles’s brother, was arrested for three drug and alcohol related misdemeanor warrants. The Griffin brothers were transported to the Barstow Jail. The other two subjects found near the vehicle were determined to not be involved in the crime.
Charles Griffin is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, for an arraignment hearing. Lewis Griffin was released late Monday evening.
The stolen property was released back to the victim. Anyone with additional information regarding this case can contact Deputy Daniel Evans or Sergeant Anthony Padfield at the Barstow Sheriff’s Station.
