VICTORVILLE – A 20-year-old Riverside man was arrested for the Sunday afternoon shooting of a 17-year-old male. At around 1:48 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to the report of the shooting in the 16800 block of Tracy Street in the City of Victorville for the reported shooting. When they arrived they found the teen victim lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.
Initial reports indicate that the suspect was unknown and he entered the victim’s home and shot him. “Through further investigation it was determined the victim was in his home with Jesse Arroyo and two other friends when Arroyo discharged a handgun, striking the victim in the chest,” said Victorville Sheriff’s station spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. According to authorities, the shooting is believed to be accidental.
The victim was in critical but stable condition at transport by ground ambulance to Victor Valley Global Medical Center in preparation to be airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center. Authorities said that Arroyo was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a firearm on a person and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Wednesday, February 15, 2017.
