VICTORVILLE – The body of a male was located and recovered from the California Aqueduct near CA-395 and Eucalyptus on Thursday night.
The report was made shortly after 9:00 p.m. by a fisherman in the area who noticed a body floating in the water. As the reporting party waited for the deputies and San Bernardino County Fire Department to arrive, he ran alongside following the floating body. “Can’t seem to erase the image -that of the corpse of a man floating towards me as I reel in my line,” said Willie Votruba on a Facebook post.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and determined that it was, in fact, the body of a deceased male subject. The body of a White male adult was recovered from the water. Shortly after the body of the man was recovered, a woman ran up to the scene to show a photo of her 50-60-year-old brother who has been missing for several days. Authorities confirmed that the man recovered from the water was not her brother, as the male subject was a younger adult with blonde hair. The body was believed to have been in the water for several days prior to being discovered.
The name of the man recovered from the aqueduct is not being released at this time, so that family can be properly notified. The exact cause and circumstances surrounding his death are unknown at this time.
