Two brothers were convicted by two separate juries for killing a Glendale man in a scheme attempting to collect his $2.5 million insurance policy, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s officials said.
Brothers Hovanes “John” Maskovian, 37 and his brother Hachik “Kriss” Maskovian, 31 were found guilty of first-degree murder and the attempted kidnapping of Hovanes’ ex-boyfriend Joshua West, 33.
The jurors also found that the pair was guilty of the special circumstances of lying in wait, murder for financial gain and murder during an attempted kidnapping.
According to the prosecutors, on April 24, 2013, West was lured to a Sun Valley location where he was beat, run over by a car and shot by the two men. His body was then dumped on the 10200 block of Penrose Street in Sun Valley.
The two are due to be sentenced in August, Hovanes on August 25th and Hachik on August 26th. Both face prison without the possibility of parole. A third co-defendant, 22-year-old Nazaret “Nick” Bayamdzhyan is awaiting trial.
