CANYON COUNTRY, Calif. – A small child nearly fell from a 2nd-story window as she leaned up against the screen on Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff’s officials said that at around 1:53 p.m. firefighters from the L.A. County Fire Department and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station deputies were dispatched to the report of a child standing in the windowsill of a second-story apartment home. When they arrived
At around 2:10 p.m. the responders forced their way into the home and pulled the child from the window to safety. When the firefighters entered the apartment, they noticed that the child was in the home alone. The child was taken to an awaiting ambulance to be cleared medically at a local hospital. Deputies later located the 28-year-old mother of the child, who was subsequently arrested for child endangerment. Lucia Romero, of Canyon Country, was booked into jail and is being held in lieu of $100,000. The child was released to family.
