Church Volunteer Faces Up to 7 Years in Prison for Sex with Minors

DIAMOND BAR, Calif. –  Diamond Bar church volunteer was charged with having a sexual relationship with a minor and molesting her younger sister, prosecutors said.

Chin Lee Chook aka Desmond Chook, 55, of Rosemead, faces two counts of oral copulation of person under 18, sexual penetration of a person under 18, and distributing or showing pornography to a minor as well as one counts of unlawful sexual intercourse. The 18-year-old woman, who was 16-years-old at the time of the incidents, told authorities that she was in a sexual relationship with a church volunteer at the River of Life Community Church in Diamond Bar. Chook was also a friend of the victim’s family prior to the incidents. In addition, the victim told authorities that Chook provided pornography for her to watch.

Around two weeks of investigation led to the arrest of Chook. The alleged sexual contact with the 16-year-old girl took place at the church on or between November 2016 and November 2018. He is also accused of molesting her sister between February 2018 and February 2019. If convicted as charged, Chook will face up to 7 years in prison.
