ROSAMOND – One small community is enraged and some are simply amused by the way the one church is advertising their services. Many in the Antelope Valley have received unsolicited calls from a church and some of those call recipients have come to terms with the fact that, according to “The Right Way To Follow Christ Worldwide Church And Political Party“, they are going to hell.
These people heard a ring on their phone from the number 661-752-5003, although they did not recognize the number they either answered the call or called back. People wondered if this was some kind of joke; like a prank call. “ A bunch of us did show up at the park one day to check out this crazy dude,” said a local resident on Facebook group AV Scanner Community Page. “We were there for almost an hour. No one went to his table and they eventually left”.
According to a September 2015, Bakersfield Now article, it is very real and the Pastor claims that Christian teachings for thousands of years have been spreading false representations of the Christian Bible.
On the church website, there is limited information, including a Donation page. The Donation page explains that the funds given are “gifts” and are not tax deductible. “We will not take part in the 501c3 program because it is a trick by Satan to silence the church,” church officials explained on the website. “So you must give to help the kingdom of God grow and not for a tax break. Also your monthly gift should be at least 10% or more of your income but only give what you can actually afford to give to the church because we do not believe in prosperity preaching but we do need every member to do what they can so that we can truly change this corrupt world for the better.”
Area residents confirmed that it is real and said that they make sure that there will be attendance to their services that have been going on since the fall of 2015, before showing up due to lack of consistent attendance. Ramon Wilson the man who runs the church describes himself as the Bishop/Senior Pastor on his Linkedin profile.
The church meets at Rosamond Park on Glendower Street near Rosamond Boulevard near the playground. On the church website, it says “Rosamond Avenue” and a nearby resident jokingly said, “These people can’t get the street right, but know who’s going to hell?” and another said, “How are they going to find heaven if they do not even know where they are?”
