VICTORVILLE – A terrifying ordeal where a home was invaded and a victim was taken around her home at knifepoint searching for valuables led to the arrest of an already convicted felon.
The home invasion occurred on June 16, 2017, at around 6:22 p.m. when the suspect entered the victim’s home located in the 15000 block of Whitekirk Drive through a window in the back of her home. She woke up to find the male suspect, later identified as Edmond D. Reliford, 19, of Apple Valley in her room. He walked her through her home seeking money and jewelry while holding two large knives to her. He then fled through the same window he came in through.
On Friday, June 23, 2017, Reliford, a convicted felon on probation, was identified and located at an Apple Valley home and arrested for robbery and kidnapping. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center.
Reliford was previously arrested on August 2, 2016, for the robbery and attempted carjacking of a 17-year-old female. According to authorities, Reliford met with the female victim to spend time with her. The girl picked Reliford up and began making comments to here, which made her feel uncomfortable. She decided to take him back, but he grabbed the steering wheel and told her the car was his. The two got out of the vehicle on Northstar Avenue in the City of Victorville and Reliford grabbed the keys. Deputies arrived and Reliford fled but was quickly detained. The female was uninjured but visibly shaken after the ordeal.
On August 11, 2016, Reliford pleaded no contest to Assault By Means Of Force Likely To Produce Gbi which pursuant to the agreed upon plea deal dropped attempted carjacking charges. He was sentenced to 90 days probation and 180 days County Jail weekends or work release. He was credited for 10 days time served and was required to serve half the time with conduct credit leaving Reliford with 85 days to serve.
Reliford is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, for an arraignment hearing.
