CORONA – Two threats directed at the Corona High School campus led to arrest of one student and the questioning of a second student officials said. The threats were noticed on social media on Thursday night and were reported to authorities. The 15-year-old male student was identified, arrested at his home, and was subsequently booked into the Riverside Juvenile Hall.
Further investigation led officers to another social media post that was posted by another Corona High School Student. The second post showed a picture of the 18-year-old student with a weapon with threats toward Corona High School students.
This post was brought to the attention of the School Resource Officer assigned to the campus. The student was identified, detained, and detained. It was learned that the weapon shown on the photo was rented at a shooting range for the use at the range. No weapons were located at the student’s home and the investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone who sees similar posts on social media should report the post to dispatch at (951) 736-2330, option 3 for issues that need immediate attention. As a result of the threats, the Corona Police department will be keeping additional police on the campus today.
