ADELANTO – With the High Desert Mavericks recent departure from what was formerly known as Mavericks Stadium and Heritage Field, the City of Adelanto is working on new events for the stadium. The stadium will now be called Adelanto Stadium and the 28th District Agricultural Association (DAA); the San Bernardino County Fair, will help to bring new events to the stadium. The one-year agreement was signed wit the 28th DAA in March, which will have the Association, according to City of Adelanto officials, “ undertake management and operations of all city promoted, sponsored or supported events, not just at the stadium.”
The contract includes three, one-year options with the 28th DAA, city officials said. Further details of the one-year options were not immediately disclosed. “This agreement is a win-win for Adelanto and the High Desert,” said Kerr. “Under the agreement, Adelanto will receive 30 percent of all revenues generated by events held within the City of Adelanto, and the High Desert residents will continue to have excellent venues for a variety of exciting events,” Kerr added.
The first event, following the departure of the High Desert Mavericks, is the second annual Adelanto Rodeo, which will be held on October 21st and 22nd. The 28th DAA, who has proven success in marketing, recruitment, production, management, and operations of past events at other venues, will be expected to reach out do the same on behalf of the City of Adelanto. This arrangement was initiated by Mayor Rich Kerr and it is unique, according to city officials since the 28th DAA has never before entered into an agreement to seek or host activities outside of the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in the City of Victorville.
“This agreement is certainly unique, but it’s also an exciting opportunity for the Fairgrounds and our team to show what we are capable of and gives us a chance to bring exciting and new entertainment opportunities to the High Desert,” said 28th DAA Board President Patrick Kahler. The 28th DAA CEO, Geoff Hinds said they look forward to working with the City of Adelanto to bring quality events to the city.
