RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Ca. – A 71-year-old Rancho Cucamonga man was arrested after stabbing his 49-year-old daughter to death.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2019, dispatchers received a call from a man stating that he stabbed his daughter. Deputies responded to the address provided by the male suspect and found the victim at the home in the 6300 block of Elkridge Place in the City of Rancho Cucamonga. The victim, identified as Darlene Montes was suffering from multiple stab wounds and was transported to San Antonio Community Hospital.
Darlene Montes died as a result of her injuries. Deputies secured the home and homicide detectives responded to the scene. Deputies made contact with Joe Montes, the father of the victim and transported him to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested for the murder of his daughter. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center.
This was an isolated incident, there are no outstanding suspects which pose a threat to public safety, police said. There is no known motive at this time.
