Elderly Santa Monica Couple’s Son Charged for Stabbing that Left Mom Dead

SANTA MONICA, Calif. – A 42-year-old Brentwood man was charged with stabbing his parents while at their Santa Monica home.

Sometime before January 23, 2019, and January 24, 2019, Howard Fader, 82, and Sharon Fader, 75, were stabbed multiple times by their son, Stephen Lloyd Fader. Sharon Fader died as a result of the stabbing. Stephen Lloyd Fader is now facing one count each of murder and attempted murder and faces 32 to life in prison if convicted.  The deputy district attorney added that the allegations that he faces is that he used a knife as a deadly and dangerous weapon and that he inflicted great bodily injury upon his father who is older than 70 years old.

On Wednesday, February 20, 2019, the defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 11, 2019. Meanwhile he is being held in lieu of $3 million bail.
