VICTORVILLE – An 82-year-old woman was injured after being assaulted by her 36-year-old male family member on Thursday night. Deputies from the Victorville Station responded to the 15000 block of Zircon Drive in the City of Victorville at around 10:15 p.m. in response to the assault. When they arrived they went to the door of the home and confirmed a male subject was inside, but he refused to open the door.
The deputy planned for the possibility of forced entry to check on the well-being of the elderly victim. Backup was called to the home and Samuel Batista was arrested at around 10:23 p.m. The deputies called for medical aid for the woman who suffered from undisclosed injuries. The woman is expected to survive.
Samuel Batista was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for harm to an elderly adult. According to inmate records, Batista posted bail and was released at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017. The exact relationship between Batista and the elderly female victim is unknown at the time. There are no scheduled court dates for Batista at this time.
