HIGHLAND, Ca. – A home child care provider in Highland has been arrested for child abuse, authorities said.
Rosalind Maria Drinkard-Batiste, 53, of Highland, owner of Drinkard-Batiste Family Child Care in the 7000 block of Nye Drive was arrested on Monday as a result of an investigation into the abuse of a five-month-old boy and a 1-year-old girl. The report was made on Sunday, November 3, 2019, at around 7:00 p.m. regarding the children who were under the care of Drinkard-Batiste. It was reported that the two victims were abused by the suspect.
Detectives responded to the daycare location and made contact with Drinkard-Batiste on Monday, November 4, 2019, at around 3:00 p.m. She was interviewed and subsequently arrested for Willful Cruelty to a Child and False Imprisonment. She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The investigation is ongoing and detectives believe there may be additional victims.
