Fatal Motorcycle Collision Shuts Down Bear Valley Road

HESPERIA – One man is dead and a second patient is injured after a motorcycle and blue semi truck without trailer collided on Bear Valley Road near 9th Avenue in Hesperia. At around 11:30 a.m. Hesperia deputies, as well as emergency medical personnel, responded to the traffic collision. Upon arrival, they located a black Yamaha motorcycle with a man lying on the roadway nearby and the blue semi with damage to the passenger side door.

The man was confirmed by paramedics on scene to be dead on arrival and a second party was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Through investigation, deputies were able to determine that the 2007 Yamaha R6 was heading eastbound on Bear Valley Road approaching Ninth Avenue. The 2013 Freightliner turned south on Ninth Avenue from westbound Bear Valley causing the two to collide in the eastbound lanes of Bear Valley Road. 

Bear Valley Road was closed to eastbound traffic at 11th Avenue and westbound traffic was closed at 7th Avenue. Northbound traffic was also closed at Sequoia Avenue and Southbound traffic was closed at Tokay Street.

There were no other injuries reported as a result of the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. The San Bernardino County MAIT – Major Accident Investigation Team is on the scene to conduct a thorough investigation.
