VICTORVILLE, Calif. – One person was killed in a traffic collision at the Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive intersection on Monday.
At around 1:45 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station and emergency medical personnel responded to the area of Amargosa Road and Mojave Drive for the report of a 2-vehicle traffic collision. When they arrived, deputies learned that the Honda sedan was driving south on Amargosa Road. The driver went toward the intersection of Mojave Drive on a green light and was struck by a Ford SUV that was driving northbound on Amargosa. The driver of the Ford, for reasons that remain under investigation, attempted to make a sudden left turn, crossing into the path of the Honda.
The driver of the Honda sustained major life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The name of the driver is not being released so that his family could first be notified. The driver of the Ford was also transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
The road was closed but was reopened at approximately 5:15 p.m.
