LA PUENTE – A 4th-grade teacher with Rowland Unified School District’s Hurley Elementary School pleaded not guilty to five counts of child molesting officials said.
Carlos Munguia, 46, was accused of touching the young girls for nearly three years between September 2015 and February 2018. Munguia has been charged with five misdemeanor counts of child molesting, which is punishable by up to five years in jail and lifetime registration as a sex offender.
Munguia is accused of the improper touching of five female students at the La Puente elementary school and was formally charged by the district attorney’s office on April 9, 2018. He was arrested on April 12th and has since been released from custody. It is unclear is Munguia was bailed out or if he was released on his own recognizance.
He will return to the West Covina Superior court for a pretrial hearing on June 5, 2018.
