PLACENTIA – A Former Teacher and coach who worked at Valencia High School in Placentia, was sentenced last week to 6 months in jail for engaging in sex acts with an underage female student.
Rebecca Eileen Diebolt, a 37-year-old Brea resident pleaded guilty on January 15, 2016, to one single felony count each of oral copulation with a minor under 16 and one felony count of sexual penetration with a foreign object of a minor.
Diebolt was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison stayed, meaning that will only have to be served if she does not successfully complete 180 days in county jail, 5 years of formal probation, and all sex offender terms, including lifetime registration as a sex offender.
Diebold had been teaching at the school since 2003 as a Language Arts teacher and coach for girl’s swimming and water Polo. The unlawful sexual relationship began in 2004 with the then, 15-year-old girl. The relationship went on until 2008, with Diebolt engaging in sexual acts with the victim in the classroom and at Diebolt’s home. These meetings took place after school and on weekends.
The relationship continued when the victim graduated from high school and went on to college. Years later, on June 4, 2014, the victim reported the incidents to the Placentia Police. Diebolt was arrested one week later.
