LUCERNE VALLEY, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol announced a full closure of SR-247 between Camp Rock and Bessemer Mine Roads from Friday, March 29, 2019, at 8:00 p.m. to Monday, April 1, 2019, at 6:00 a.m.
The closure will be necessary for paving operations to be done in the area between Lucerne Valley and Yucca Valley. There are no detours in the area, and motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid dirt roads. Motorists are also reminded to not go around the closure. In addition, GPS functions may detour motorists onto unmaintained dirt roads which can lead to motorists becoming stranded with limited cellular phone service in some of these areas.
“Motorist traveling to the Johnson Valley OHV Area are encouraged to use I-10 to SR-62 to SR-247,” CHP Victorville officials said. “There will be no access to the OHV area via I-15 to SR-247. Please avoid this area during the closure.”
