Kern County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the Keysville area of the Kern River for the report of two subjects in the water on Saturday.
At around 10:40 a.m., authorities learned that a teenage male and an 11-year-old girl fell into the water. The male made it out of the river safely, but the girl was swept downstream. The Kern County Sheriff Search and Rescue is working on locating the female child, and had to suspend efforts but the search will continue on Sunday morning.
They are still attempting to locate the two teen males who went missing last weekend during their search. KCSO Search and Rescue would like to remind the public to use extreme caution when visiting the Kern River. “The water is unusually high and fast creating very dangerous conditions for those who are unprepared,” said Kern County Sheriff’s officials. “Use a life jacket and keep a close eye on loved ones.”
