HESPERIA – A 56-year-old Hesperia man was arrested on suspicion of cockfighting on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities said that a search warrant at around 3:30 p.m. the Rural Crimes Task Force and Gang Division was served at a home in the 11800 block of Ninth Avenue in the city of Hesperia.
The search of the residence uncovered items and instruments typically used in cockfighting and cockfighting training. Several live and dead roosters were found at the home. “The roosters had deep lacerations, indicative of having been involved in recent fights,” Sheriff’s officials said in a news release.
The resident, Raul Rodriguez was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for cruelty to animals. Rodriguez was released on bail at 10:54 a.m. on Wednesday morning and is awaiting a court date.
