VICTORVILLE – A 24-year-old Hesperia man was arrested on Friday after the attempting to abduct a 4-year-old girl. The police received a call reporting that the suspect, later identified as Terry Ransom attempted to take the child from a business located on the 15300 block of Seventh Street in Victorville.
Upon arrival, deputies from the Victorville Station learned that Ransom entered the business, grabbed the child and attempted to flee with the child. The child, who was with her mother and infant sibling pulled away from the man breaking free just outside of the business.
The mother screamed out as the Ransom ran from the scene. An area search was conducted and Ransom was located near the scene. He was taken into custody and is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center for kidnapping and child cruelty. He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, although shaken did not suffer any injuries as a result of the attempted kidnapping.
