Homicide Detectives on Scene After Man is Found Shot Dead

UPDATE: San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman, Jodi Miller said that the death appears to be a suicide. No further information is available at this time. It remains unclear as to why the death investigation is being handled by Homicide Detectives, any additional information will be updated as it becomes available.

VICTORVILLE – San Bernardino County Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation in the area of Ridgecrest Road and Chinquapin Drive Monday morning. At around 8:20 a.m. a woman called 911 to report that she believed that her husband may have killed himself and that her gun was missing from their home.

Per scanner traffic, she went on to say that he had been “distraught” and went for a walk. Just moments later, she reported that she drove up to find her husband and blood all over in an open field near the Lakeview Ridge Community.  When deputies arrived, they made contact with the woman and located the deceased male victim with a gunshot wound to the head.

All the Victorville Station spokeswoman, Mara Rodriguez was able to confirm was that the investigation is being handled by San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives. There is no information available to indicate why this is being investigated by Homicide investigators at this time.

    Suiside is considered homicide if one self. Therefore the Homicide detectives investigate. The coroner’s “toe tag” is a “homicide tag” used for homicedes and suicides. Hope that explains why the Homicide detectives are working the case. Sorry to the friends and family of this man. RIP.
