The Hesperia and Victorville stations have both received reports of scams offered as High Desert school district job opportunities. These were reported when citizens of both cities realized that these “job offers” were actually financial scams, officials said.
The job offers were found on the Indeed Job search site and were listed as job opportunities for schools located in the High Desert. Those inquiring received an email from David Fuller or Ian Heinz who based on the correspondence appeared to be in New York.
The victims were sent a check, and were given a list of tasks to perform once it was received. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is warning that this is a scam. The local school districts are aware and they do not send checks to those interested in employment with them.
Sheriff’s officials are asking that the community passes on the information regarding this scam and they are asking those who may have been victimized by this scam to report it to the local police department.
