A Los Angeles man lost his life in the Kern River, Lake Ming area after drowning on Tuesday.
At around 5:53 p.m. Kern County Sheriff’s and Bakersfield Fire Department responded to the Lake Ming area for a drowning. Davide Humberto Uceda Velis, 45, was swept underwater in the river. When he was located he was pulled from the river unresponsive. CPR was done; however, it was unsuccessful.
Velis is the fifth death in the Kern River this year, an 11-year-old girl remains missing.
