SANTA MONICA – A 31-year-old Los Angeles man was charged today for a Tuesday, October 4, 2016, incident at the Metro Station in Santa Monica where he allegedly attempted to stab two LA County sheriff’s deputies. Thomas Francis Napack is facing two counts of attempted murder of a peace officer with a knife and assault upon a peace officer.
Napack charged at the two deputies who were monitoring the transit station with a knife in each hand, according to the criminal complaint. One of the deputies shot Napack attempting to evade the stabbing attack. Napack is scheduled to appear at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Airport Branch for an arraignment hearing on Thursday.
If convicted as charged, LA District Attorney officials said that he may face up to a life sentence in prison.
