LOS ANGELES – A 3-year-old girl was stabbed and killed on Monday while at a downtown Los Angeles clothing factory officials said.
The couple brought the small girl to work with them in the 800 block of McGarry Street. The child went to give her father a cookie and was seen running toward her mother with Utuy close behind. The child suffered from multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital where she died as a result of the stabbing.
Utuy was charged with one count of murder for stabbing the child and one count of attempted murder for an unrelated incident. He also faces the special allegation that he personally used the deadly and dangerous weapon. This is the second stabbing that 34-year-old Ricardo Utuy was charged with. Utuy was also charged with attempted murder for stabbing a woman at another downtown Los Angeles factory on March 10, 2016.
The motive for both stabbings remains unclear at this time. If convicted, Utuy will face life in prison.
